03 / GET STARTED

From install to your first server.

  1. 01

    Point JKNet to your game

    JKNet finds Jedi Academy or Jedi Outcast in Steam and GOG. You can also select your game folder manually.

  2. 02

    Create a client

    Choose an engine. JKNet downloads it and prepares a separate home for your mods and settings.

  3. 03

    Find a server

    Browse servers or launch your game. No account is needed for these features.

Before your first launch

Do I need to own the game?

You need your own copy of Jedi Academy or Jedi Outcast with the original game files. JKNet does not include or distribute them.

Does JKNet change my game folder?

No. It reads the original files and keeps engines, mods and settings in its own client folders.

Do I need Steam or an account?

Steam is not required to launch. JKNet works with Steam, GOG or a manually selected game folder. An account is only needed for friends and invitations.

What is in the published release?

Version 0.4.0 supports Jedi Academy and Jedi Outcast, community engines, the PK3 library, the built-in JKHub catalog, 3D previews, media, configs and the server browser. Sign in with Discord for friends and invitations.

Can I sign in with JKHub?

JKHub sign-in is not available yet. The catalog and file downloads work independently. JKNet Online accounts in 0.4.0 use Discord.

Which operating systems are supported?

A Windows x64 installer is published. JKNet installers for Linux and macOS are not available.
